Self-assessment tool

The NABERSNZ self assessment tool can help you find out how your office building might currently rate in terms of energy performance, and what it would take to achieve a target NABERSNZ star rating.

If you're planning a new or refurbished building, this tool will help you work out the level of energy use you should aim for to achieve your target rating. The results of this tool are estimates only, based on the data you submit and should not be taken as a guarantee of achieving a specific star rating.

Getting started

With the right information to hand, doing a self assessment only takes a few minutes. All you need is:

  • The location of the premises you are assessing (address and/or region)
  • The size of the premises you are assessing (m2)
  • Hours of occupancy
  • Number of computers normally in use
  • 12 months’ worth of energy bills

Next steps

I’ve done a self assessment – now what?

Doing a self assessment can be a useful first step to work out roughly where you might rate, but a self assessment will not be as accurate as an assessment carried out by an accredited NABERSNZ assessor.

Find an assessor

If you find you still have a way to go, you may want to look at ways to improve your energy performance.

Apply for funding and support

If you are happy with the results of your self assessment and want an official benchmark of your building's energy performance, you can talk to your assessor about getting a NABERSNZ Certified Rating.
